Draped checks clothes against your colours and your sizes while you shop on Vinted, ASOS and John Lewis. To do that it needs to know a few things about you. Most of them never leave your phone. This page lists what we keep, where, and how to get rid of it.

Who we are

Draped is run by Ellyn Fitzgerald. For UK data protection law we are the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at privacy@draped.london.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps these on your device, and we can’t see them unless you send them to us yourself:

Checking a garment’s colour happens on your phone. The app downloads the product photo from the shop and reads it on the device. No photo, and no result, is sent to us.

Photos of you

The colour quiz can use your camera so you can see colours held up next to your face. The photo stays in the app’s memory while you use that screen. It isn’t saved to your account and it isn’t uploaded. The quiz on our website works the same way: the photo stays in your browser.

If you create an account

An account lets your answers follow you to a new phone. You sign in with your email address and a code we email you, or with Apple or Google. If you sign in, we store:

Your searches and browsing record stay on your phone and are not part of your account. When you sign out, the app removes your saved items from that phone; they stay in your account. Only you can read your account data through the app. We can see it through our database provider when we need to fix something.

Session reports

While Draped is being tested, the settings screen has a button to send us a session report. Nothing is sent unless you tap it and choose where it goes. A report contains your season, your sizes and measurements, your settings, the record of listings Draped read, the items you flagged and the technical log. We use reports to find what went wrong and to improve how Draped judges colour and size. We delete them 12 months after we receive them.

Counting how Draped is used

To find out where Draped works and where it doesn’t, the app counts what happens in it: when you finish the quiz, open a shop, run a search, open or save an item, or reach the paywall. Each count says which shop and which version of the app, and whether Draped thought the item was your colour.

These counts are tied to a random number made on your phone, not to your account or email. They never include your sizes or measurements, your photos, item links or prices.

We also keep the words you search for, so we can make search better. These are kept apart from everything else: no number, account or time of day is attached, and we delete them after 90 days.

We use the counts only to improve Draped, never for advertising. You can turn this off in Settings. We keep the counts for about a year.

Shopping on Vinted, ASOS and John Lewis in the app

The app shows Vinted’s, ASOS’s and John Lewis’s own websites. Anything you do on those sites, such as signing in, messaging a seller or buying, goes straight to them, under their privacy policies, not this one. Their sites can set cookies in the app just as they would in a browser. Draped doesn’t collect your passwords or payment details.

Our website

Companies that handle data for us

Some of these companies process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK’s approved contract clauses. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

Why we’re allowed to use it

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. To delete it, email privacy@draped.london from the address you signed in with, and we’ll remove your account and everything stored with it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes what was stored on your phone. To leave the waiting list, email us and we’ll delete your address.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and object to how we use it. Email us and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Draped isn’t meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change what Draped collects or who handles it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
